Artist Statement
What do I find so interesting about photographing things like concrete, tree bark or scratched metal? Texture. Plain and simple...I love texture! Layering these types of images over traditional photographs creates depth and emotion, which brings them to life and tells their story in a more meaningful way.
I refer to my work as Photographic Art because it reaches beyond traditional photography and allows me more creativity to convey a true 'beingness' that the lens alone doesn't often capture. Through these images, I hope to remind the viewer that we are part of a wonderful world, full of magnificence.
Bio
For the past ten years I have made my career as a professional animal communicator. However, in recent years my interests have moved more seriously towards photography, which has been important to me for as long as I can remember. My father was a photography enthusiast when I was growing up, so I've been toting a camera around since I was in kindergarten.
My photography had always been for my own enjoyment until a few years ago when, thanks to the encouragement of family and friends, I started showing and selling my work publicly. I love doing outdoor shows and meeting the public one on one. You can find me and my work around Northern New Mexico.
(All of the main images are my photographs as well as some of the textures. I will on occasion use textures from someone else and of course will give credit with the image.)
Current Residence: Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA
Favourite style of art: Zetti, Grunge (um, do those qualify?)
